What Is Embodied Spirituality?
Embodied Spirituality is a paradoxical process of integration and disintegration. In other words, as you relax into knowing yourself intimately on a physical level, you integrate personally. You become the person you were meant to be. And although it seems contradictory, self-actualizing your human self offers the opportunity for the ego to disintegrate and reveal your Formless, Timeless Self.
Spiritual Embodiment leads to experiencing “you” as much more than your personal identity. You discover you are woven into the Fabric of Everything. You connect with your Intuition. You have a sense of belonging. You know something beyond words. You discover your purpose. Creativity flows through you. Inner Guidance directs you. Your inner state is one of well-being. You experience Love moving through you, overflowing from you, and being returned to you.
In my personal experience, and with the many clients and students I’ve worked with over the past 18 years, I’ve found that we bury thoughts in the body. Feelings and emotions are buried thoughts. In order to fully experience your own life, you need to become deeply aware of the messages carried in your body. This is experiential work. This is what I call “Embodied Spirituality.”
Must You Be Healthy?
Whether you are fit or sick, sexy or celibate, if you’re devoted to spiritual awakening, you must spiritualize your relationship with your body. Your relationship with your breath becomes sensual and pleasurable. Your relationship with your body merges into your relationship with All That Is. Your relationship with the little self with which you identify becomes less personal … as it does, you find yourself more connected to others. Rather judging, you shift to attuning.
Attuning to your body, your emotions and your thoughts, naturally moves you into attunement with every aspect of the Universe: people, places and things. This is the opening that allows Grace to move through you and Guide you. When you are spiritually constipated, it’s difficult to feel the flow of Grace. Embodied Spirituality relieves you of the personal sludge and psychological glue that makes you too dense to experience the flow of Grace. It moves you through the necessary shadow work we all must do if we wish to experience an enlightened state of God-Mind or what non-dualists call Awareness, Presence, Consciousness, the Self and countless other terms.
Is Mindfulness, Yoga, or Psychotherapy the Same as Embodied Spirituality?
In mindfulness and meditation, you may spontaneously experience embodied spirituality, but you may not realize it … and you will not sustain it. In psychology and transpersonal psychology, methods such as breathwork, EMDR, somatic experiencing, NLP, and bioenergetics, among many other modalities, help people transverse the gap between human and Being. Various forms of yoga, dance, energy movement, and other forms of moving meditation bring people in touch with the divinity within. But these usually lead to random spiritual experiences that lack integration, and without integration you do not sustain disidentification with the ego. Embodied Spirituality invites you into an ongoing body-mindfulness practice which naturally leads to a blossoming recognition of the Awareness which you truly are.
Join me in the most compelling and gratifying exploration you will ever have — the unintellectual, sensuous and experiential investigation into yourself through Embodied Spirituality. It is a down-to-earth way to transcend the world, free your mind from incessant thinking, and enjoy your body in a holy new way. As you discover your body is the key to your soul, you go beyond your individual soul to the collective Spirit we all share. This is the Answer to all your prayers. Embodied Spirituality does not require a healthy body, just a desire to discover the essence of who and what you truly are. If you have any doubt that your body is the key to your soul, consider what Jesus said on April 1st, 2018 (as channeled through Gina Lake), “Your body is a here and now sensing mechanism.” He explains how you can feel your aliveness through subtle vibrations throughout your body, especially your face and hands. But you can only experience your body in this way if you tune into it and gain awareness.
Breakthroughs Are Temporary – Embodied Spirituality Is Sustainable
What I bring to Embodied Spirituality is a deep understanding of the necessity for integration. My experience as a Gestalt psychotherapist showed me how important it is for people to have guidance while they digest insights, emotions, and spiritual experiences. Clients would come to me after doing bioenergetics, yoga, breathwork, rebirthing and other powerful practices and report how initially they felt great, but then fear crept back in and that was deeply disappointing. They had thought their breakthrough experience was a cure, and now the same old patterns re-emerged. We all need time to process, digest, and assimilate experience. We need witnessing. We need to be met by someone who understands. We need to lean a little on a guide before we dare to skip ahead on the forest path and playfully glance back at the guide we no longer need.
